Extension Privacy Policy

This policy covers the "ZeroRaised: Bootstrapped or Funded?" browser extension ("the extension"), made for ZeroRaised.

Summary

The extension does not collect, store on a server, sell or share any personal data or browsing data. It checks the site you're on against a list that is stored on your own device.

What the extension accesses

The current tab's address, only when you click the extension icon. Chrome's activeTab permission gives the extension access to the tab you clicked on, and only that tab. The extension uses the address to work out the site's hostname (for example app.example.com) and compares it with the ZeroRaised list on your device. It is never sent anywhere or stored.
Nothing else. The extension can't read your history, other tabs, page content, forms, passwords or cookies.

What is stored on your device

The extension keeps these in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local):

a copy of ZeroRaised's public company list and today's top launches;
logo images of today's top launches (cached so they aren't downloaded again);
the domains of sites where you dismissed the on-page badge, so it stays hidden there.

This data stays on your device. Removing the extension deletes it.

Network requests

The extension only contacts https://zeroraised.com:

The company list (/api/extension/companies.json). This is a plain download with no parameters, cookies or referrer. It happens on install and browser startup, then at most once every 6 hours when you open the popup.
Logo images for today's top launches, hosted on zeroraised.com and downloaded when the popup first shows them. These requests have no cookies or referrer either. The top-launches list is the same for everyone, whatever site you're on.

Those are the only requests. Nothing about the sites you visit is sent: checking a site never triggers a request about it. When the site you checked is listed, the popup and the on-page badge show that company's logo only if it's already cached (for example because it's one of today's top launches); otherwise they show a letter.

Links you choose to click open zeroraised.com pages with utm_source=extension added, so ZeroRaised can count visits referred by the extension. Once you're on zeroraised.com, that site's own privacy policy applies.

What the extension does not do

No analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking.
No account and no sign-in.
No sale or transfer of data to third parties.
No remote code. All code ships inside the extension package.
