What the Shopify App Store is#
The Shopify App Store is where Shopify merchants find apps for their stores, grouped into categories such as sales channels, store design and store management. Shopify says each app goes through a 100-checkpoint review before it hits the store.
Who it suits#
Its audience is Shopify merchants looking for apps to customize and extend their stores. If you distribute your app to multiple merchants, Shopify's revenue share docs say you need to publish it through the App Store. See also our guide on how to sell software online.
How to submit#
Per Shopify's revenue share, submission and review process docs:
- In the Partner Dashboard, go to Settings, click Register now in the App Store registration section, add a payment method and click Register.
- Link all of your Associated Developer Accounts during registration.
- On the App Store review page, complete the configuration: app URLs, compliance webhooks, a 1200 x 1200 app icon and an emergency contact.
- Set a primary language and create at least one listing.
- Run the automated checks. They must complete successfully, so fix any failures and rerun them.
- Submit the app. It moves from Draft to Submitted, and a reviewer contacts you by email if fixes are needed. Once approved, it is Published and shows in the store.
Cost, link type and review time#
- Cost: Paid. Public App Store distribution needs a one-time registration fee of USD 19 per Partner account (revenue share docs). There is no free option for public apps.
- Link type: dofollow. On a sampled listing checked on 2026-10-19, the Website link to the product homepage carried noopener and noreferrer only, with no nofollow.
- Review time: Not confirmed.
The catch#
Shopify's submission docs warn that errors, beta versions or incomplete submissions can delay the process or stop the app from being approved. Partners who fail to address reviewer issues after two or more exchanges, or resubmit with growing numbers of issues, can be temporarily suspended from submitting, and repeat suspensions get longer. Shopify's review process docs say to test your app on a development store first. For other places to list, see our launch sites page.
