About

Helo is an independent email service for developers sending transactional and marketing messages from an application. It supports a REST API and SMTP, and its launch post lists SDKs for Ruby, JavaScript, C#, Python and Go. The service separates transactional and promotional traffic, and is designed to handle multi-tenant platforms where one customer’s sending behaviour should not damage everyone else’s deliverability. The live site also describes event logs, webhooks, suppressions, unsubscribes and usage-based pricing. Helo is built by a small team with substantial email-industry experience. Its About page names Jimmy, Ryan, Rob, Bettina and Jens, and describes each person’s previous work at Postmark; Bettina Specht was formerly Head of Product there. Her @BettinaSpecht profile says she is bootstrapping Helo. The company’s own position is unusually explicit: its site says it has no investors, no VC partners and no exit plan, and that it intends to remain bootstrapped. Helo therefore fits the independent-company requirement without relying on an absence of funding news. It is an operational email API aimed at software teams, not a startup launch, listing or submission directory.
