About

Hypermass is an open data platform for live data streams that arrive as files on your own machine. Instead of polling bespoke APIs, a subscriber runs two commands with the open source Hypermass CLI, which is written in Go and released under the Apache 2.0 licence. Files from each subscribed stream then appear in a local folder in the order they were published, named with sortable ULIDs so scripts can process them in time order. The CLI handles ordering, retries, hash verification and reconnection, and a stream can be replayed from any point in its history. Subscribing needs no sign up. Example public streams include daily extreme ultraviolet images of the sun from the SOHO observatory and filtered GDACS disaster alerts. Publishers can drop files into a folder to have them read, published and removed locally. In the Show HN post for Hypermass, its founder describes himself as a solo founder based in the UK who previously worked on UK Rail Open Data systems, and says he is self-funded. He plans a free tier, with paid data allowances for heavy users.
